Road traffic accidents

A total of 6,072 road traffic accidents involving personal injury occurred in 2010. In them, 272 persons were killed and 7,673 injured. There were seven fewer fatalities than in 2009.

The number of accidents involving personal injury was 342 lower and the number of persons injured in them 384 lower than in 2009. The number of accidents involving personal injury has fallen by nearly one thousand since 2005.

During 2010, the number of persons killed in swerving accidents decreased by one-fi fth. Fatalities numbered 79, which is 21 fewer than in the year before.

The number of persons killed in head-on collisions remained on level with the lowest fi gures in the 2000s. Fatalities numbered 76, which is the same as in 2009.

During 2010, one major accident (min. four fatalities) occurred, in which six persons lost their lives.
